A Vision of Paris: The Photographs of Eugene Atget, The Words of Marcel Proust.

New York: Macmillan Company, 1980. 211 pp. Illus. with sepia photos. 4to. Cloth. Reissue. Words by Marcel Proust. A very good+ copy with foxing to edges and a remainder dot, in a very good dust jacket. Item #16491

First published in 1963 and here reissued, these wonderful evocative photographs are from the collection of Berenice Abbott who wrote of Atget: "He will be remembered as an urban historian, a genuine romanticist, a lover of Paris, a Balzac of the camera, from whose work we can weave a large tapestry of French civilization. Yet perhaps his most haunting photographs show simply a plow in a field near the city, a crop of wheat, or one of the trees he loved so well."
