Signed Tho. Clarke, esq. Contains a reprint of Harris's obituary from the New York American, dated Oct. 20, an address delivered at Harris's interment by the Rev. John McVicker, and additional biographical information by an unnamed source. Harris was originally chosen in 1811 as the sixth President of Columbia College because the College needed an Episcopalian minister in order to receive a large reai estate gift from Trinity Church. The first choice, Dr. Mason, was made provost and retained the real power until his death in 1816, at which time Harris was given full powers. Scarce. OCLC shows only three copies.
