(Found in the ancient city of Sarai, i.e. Sarytsyn on the Volga). Sarai, near modern Volgograd, was the capital of the empire of the Golden Horde. The Latin text describes the Greek inscription and provides the restored text. Nice bookplate of A.I Ward; bound by Weilen and Goos, with their label. Scarce.
