[London]: [Printed for Alex. Hogg], [1782]. Copper engraving. Image size 11 5/8 in. x 7 in. (295 mm x 177.5 mm). Sheet size 14.5 in x 9.75 in. A very good copy, outer edges with small chips and tears but image with only slight soiling. Item #35540

The Caption reads: "Woman and Boy of Patagonia in South America receiving Beads from Commodore (now Admiral) Byron, whose Valuable Discoveries in his Celebrated Voyage Round the World (as well as All the Other Modern Discoveries in the Southern and Northern Hemispheres) will be inserted in this Work." One of the most famous images of Patagonia showing the giant woman towering over Byron (1723-1786). Byron's narrative was published in 1768.
