Completed in manuscript and signed February 10th, 1784, by Willet and Benson, with seal to left margin. "To the Sheriff of the City of New-York". Case of Joseph Jadwin against Joseph Hyet and his wife Lydia, "...of a Plea of Trespass pursuant to the Directions of the Act entitled "An Act for granting a more effective Relief in Cases of certain Trespasses..." Fine of £60 in Mayor's Court noted by Attorney DePeyster on verso.

Verso signed by General Marinus Willett (1740-1830), a Revolutionary War soldier who was a veteran of the French and Indian War and a leader of the Sons of Liberty in New York, and was "one of the truly outstanding American leaders of the Revolution." He had active political career after his military service. He was elected to the State Assembly in 1783, served two terms as the Sheriff of New York County (1784-1787 and 1791-1795), participated in the suppression of Shay's Rebellion, and was later the Mayor of New York City (1807-1808).

Robert Benson (1739-1823), Clerk of the city of New York and secretary of the New York City Committee of One Hundred and the Provincial Congress of New York during the Revolution.
