Notebook of William C. Gibson, of Oyster Bay, Long Island. The first 30 pages contains notes and diagrams on trigonometry and field surveying. Thereafter it becomes an 1826 "BookKeeping Daybook & Journal...In which are exemplified / Domestic and foreign trade proper / Factorage of Commission business / Bills of Exchange and all the leading cases of Speculation in Company." In addition to accounting notes for merchandise, including received shipments and sales of bulk grocery items, this section contains an essay entitled "The Passions," and the last several pages are comprised of prose, some seemingly written by Gibson.
