William Crafts, Jr. (1787-1826) was Harvard graduate, entered the bar in Charleston, SC, served in the South Carolina House and later the Senate until his death. He was a strong supporter of education, fighting vigorously against the attempt to suspend school appropriations during the war of 1812.
