Signed and dated in print: Silver Spring, August 15, 1856 (earlier than the other letter with a similar title: "Republican Documents. Letter from Francis P. Blair. To my neighbors." Blair, instrumental in forming the new Republican Party and influential in securing the nomination of John C. Fremont, here wages a vicious attack on Buchanan and his allies for using a relative of Andrew Jackson to attack him.
