One of 100 specially bound copies signed by the author on the half title in volume one. "An important overland work of the first magnitude. Contains an abundance of information on the emigrants of 1846 never before published in book form" (Mintz p. 97). Volume One contains the Shiveley Guidebook and eleven diaries; volume two contains mostly letters. The maps in the rear on two sheets are the rare T.H. Jefferson map. Lacking the slipcase.
