Francis Frieseke was born in Paris the day the Great War began between Germany and France. When she was twenty she assembled her memoirs as well as the tales she had heard of those first four years of her life; the book was then illustrated by her father, the painter Frederick Frieseke, and presented to her mother. The family allowed it to be published only in 2001. Printed by Stinehour Press.
