Educator and abolitionist Lindley Murray Moore (1788-1871) opened a Quaker school in Rahway, NJ in 1813, before moving to New York City in 1815. In 1820, he opened a boarding school for boys in Flushing as well as in Westchester Village. In 1831, he bought an estate in Rochester, where he became more active in Quaker & Abolitionsist efforts.
This April 2, 1822 invoice is for Edward Lawrence to Lindley Murray Moore, for two quarters of tuition, books, stationary, firewood, etc, for his grandson, totaling $8.27.
