[ALS] New York Comptroller William L. Marcy to the Attorney General's Office Regarding a State Mortgage.

William L Marcy (1786-1857) served at the Comptroller of New York (1823-1829); US Senator (1831-1833); Governor of New York (1833-1838); Secretary of War (1845-1849); and lastly, Secretary of State (1853-1857), during which time he negotiated the Gadsden Purchase.

Dated June 9th, 1824, with integral address to J. Dexter Esq., at the Attorney General's office. As Comptroller, Marcy contacts Dexter on behalf of Mr. McCall regarding adjoining "the sale of a lot of land advertised on a state mortgage. As it stands alone, I suppose that there will be no difficulty in adjoining the sale by a note at the bottom of the notice."
